My name is Semhar and I'm an animal rights photographer dedicated to documenting the lives of animals who exist outside public view. My work is driven by the belief that visibility creates accountability.

Through documentary photography, I investigate the systems that harm animals: industrial farming, captivity, and habitat destruction. My work makes these systems legible to the people who fund them, often without knowing it.

Based in Washington, DC, I work across North America and internationally, collaborating with sanctuaries, advocates, and journalists to get these stories told.
